Welcie Winningham

Welcie Winningham, 89, of Bradford, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011. She was born March 21, 1921 in Cave City, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Smith Whitener. Welcie was a homemaker, a retired cafeteria worker at Pleasant Plains Schools and a member of the Independence Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was an avid quilter. Survivors: Sons, David Winningham of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tom Winningham of Bradford and Mike Winningham of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Ann Iwen of Bella Vista and Nancy Trattler of Mudgeeraba, Australia; brother-in-law, James Winningham; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Winningham; son, Lloyd "Bud" Winningham Jr.; brother, Arthur Whitener; sisters; Robbie Sherrill, Imogene Benoit and Evelyn Payne. Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Independence Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will precede the funeral service, beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Goad Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
