Raye L. Ciganek, 79, of Hazen, Ark., who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, did the extraordinary. She came into this world alongside her loving twin sister, Faye, she had four sons and one daughter, helped with the child rearing of her grandchildren, served as fellow mother and grandmother to countless others, was a faithful wife, friend, christian, mentor, mother and grandmother; all of the things that truly make a life exceptional. Raye was an accomplished cook and was famous in her community for her baked goods she delivered throughout the year, but especially for her holiday rolls, a tradition which will continue through her children and grandchildren, albeit somewhat less successfully. Married in 1952, Raye loved and adored Edward and together they raised five children and maintained a family farm. She taught generations of children Catechism at St. Rose Catholic Church and was an avid Razorback fan. Raye was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Ciganek Sr., mother, Stella Williams, and her father, Wallace Williams. She is survived by her children, Eddie and wife, Linda, Terry and wife, Cindy, Tony and wife, Belinda, Joey and wife, Brenda, all of Hazen, Ark., and daughter, Diane Barker and husband, Park of Ulm, Ark., as well as nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen followed by a 7 p.m. Rosary in the chapel. The mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle, Ark., followed by burial in the Hazen Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle for three years of devoted care and compassion for our mother.
