Sarah Ann "Sally" Simpson Shelton

Sarah Ann "Sally" Simpson Shelton, 70, of West Memphis, AR, passed away Wednesday February 2, 2011 at her residence. She was born November 22, 1940 to Dr. Emerson Landon Simpson and Josephine Young Simpson in Springfield, Mo. She attended Greenwood School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married David Carter Shelton in 1962 and moved to West Memphis in 1966. She taught school in Springdale, AR while David was in Law school. She was a former Children's Leader and Area Children's Supervisor in Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana for Bible Study Fellowship International and was a Life Member of West Memphis Junior Auxiliary; was a former member of the Twenty Club; she currently attended Community Bible Study; she was a member of West Memphis First Baptist church where she taught Sunday school and was an Awana leader. Enjoyed playing bridge and traveling with her many friends and family. Sarah is survived by her husband, David C. Shelton of West Memphis, Ark.; her mother, Josephine Young Simpson of West Memphis, Ark.; her son and daughter-in-law, John Carter and Jennifer M. Shelton of Mission, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Shelton O'Neal and Paul Watt O'Neal Jr. of West Memphis, Ark.; her sister, Jeanne Simpson Harbur of St. Charles, Mo. and three grandchildren, Paul Watts "Trey" O'Neal III, Sarah Caroline O'Neal and Elizabeth Shelton O'Neal, all of West Memphis, Ark. The visitation will be Sunday February 6, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Ark. The service will be Monday February 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at West Memphis First Baptist church. Interment following the service in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.
