Selby Brown, age 85, of Knoxville, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born September 16, 1925, at Knoxville, to Vern R. and Hester Lee Selby Brown. He was a farmer and teacher, beginning his teaching career teaching high school math and then 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. After 10 years, he became the County School Supervisor for Johnson County and served for 33 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Lamar Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Glen Selby "Buddy" Brown, Ronald F. Brown, and Robert L. Brown; and two sisters, Bea Molinaro and Betty Davis. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Brown; four daughters and a son-in-law, Eloise Freeman of Nashville, Tennessee, and Johanna Kenner, Carol and Randy Struckmeyer and Jennie Brown, all of Knoxville; a sister, Verna Kness of Youngstown, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral will be 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the Clarksville Church of Christ, officiated by Mr. Darin Downs. Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Pallbearers: Active, Grandsons, Robert Brown, Martin Freeman, Andy Brown, Kyle Struckmeyer, Kristopher Struckmeyer and Brett Ballard. Honorary, Tarry Paxson, Larry Holman, Dr. Robert Thurlby, Harold Parker. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the funeral home.
