Dr. Vance J. Crain, 85, of Wynne passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at his home in Wynne. Dr. Crain, a native of South Arkansas, was born October 13, 1925 in Tillar, Arkansas. He graduated from Lake Village High School and then went to Pre-Med Arkansas A & M College at Monticello, Arkansas. He received his M. D. Degree from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1949 and then took his internship at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Crain served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 in El Paso, Texas. Dr. Crain and Dr. K. E. Beaton, opened their medical practice in Wynne on July 1, 1950, where he was a dedicated doctor for the community for 42 years, retiring in 1992. Dr. Crain served on the Wynne School Board from 1959 until 1979. He was a member of Wynne Baptist Church, Cross County Medical Society and the Arkansas Medical Society. Dr. Crain loved people and never met a stranger. He loved to garden, do yard work, hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Willeen Jaggars Crain on November 6, 2007. Survivors are his daughters, Brenda Caldwell and husband Ronald, Jeanne Owens and husband Tommy, Lynn Tutor and husband Tony and Joy Crain, all of Wynne; grandchildren, Corey Caldwell, Mary Ann Caldwell Weatherford, Hannah Owens Howell, Matt Owens, Jenny Tutor DuCharme, Vance Tutor and great-grandchildren, John Weatherford, Juliann Weatherford, Tom Owens, Austin Owens, Brody Howell, MacKenzie DuCharme. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Wynne Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Wynne Baptist Church, P. O.
