James O. Wynn, Jr.

ORANGE: Dr. James O. Wynn Jr., 84, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 after complications following a hip surgery. Dr. Wynn was born in Nassau Co., N.Y., the son of the late James Oscar Wynn Jr., and Mary Margaret Farrar Wynn. Dr. Wynn's career in medicine included an appointment on the faculty at Duke University Medical Center from 1960-1967, Chief of the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Arkansas Medical Center from 1967-1977 and private practice in Durham from 1978-2005. During the time he was in private practice he served as chairman of the Department of Medicine at Durham Regional Hospital for several years. Dr. Wynn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Stroup Wynn; his children, Patricia Anne Wynn Burton, James Oscar Wynn Jr., Jonathan William Wynn, Robin Elizabeth Wynn Meehan, and Michael Richard Wynn; his 13 grandchildren; his six great-grand children; and his sister, Peggy Jane Wynn Price A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being assisted in Hillsborough by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
