Jerry L. Grigsby Sr.

Jerry L. Grigsby Sr., age 71, of Hamburg, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2011, while in a Little Rock hospital. He was born on March 6, 1939 in Minden, Louisiana to the late Warren and Ada Dickinson Grigsby. A resident of Malvern for 40 years, he moved to Hamburg five years ago. He owned numerous businesses in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas before his retirement. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda Atkins Grigsby of Hamburg, to whom he was married on June 26, 1959 in Minden; two sons, John Grigsby of Austin, Arkansas, and James Grigsby and his wife Terri and daughter Emily Marie Grigsby, also of Austin, Arkansas; by his granddaughter, Allison Rose Grigsby, who is a student at OBU in Arkadelphia; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Suzanne Grigsby of Arlington, Tennessee; by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and by his "adopted" family, Rod and Carolina Beason and their children, Sophia and Henry, of Kansas City. Jerry was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry Grigsby Jr., and a brother who died in infancy. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, February 18th from five until 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church in Malvern. The memorial service will be on Saturday, February 19th at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Louisiana. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg, Arkansas on Sunday afternoon, February 20th at 2 p.m. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the youth program at the First United Methodist Church, 202 Main Street, Hamburg, Arkansas 71646, or to the charity of one's choice.
