Dr. Stephen Marshall Woodyard, 42, of Maumelle, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his home. Born July 13, 1968, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was the son of Dr. Charles J. Woodyard, Sr. and Mary Margaret Ragar Woodyard. He was reared and received his early education in Dumas graduating from Dumas High School. After high school he attended and graduated from University of Central Arkansas with a double major in Chemistry and Biology. He then went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and matched in Anesthesiology at University of Mississippi Medical School. He was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He practiced as a Cardio-Thoracic Board Certified Anesthesiologist and was a member of the transplant team in Jackson, Mississippi. He later served as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical School. Dr. Woodyard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff. During his early years, he attended and was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church in Dumas, Arkansas. He is survived by his parents Dr. Charles and Margaret Woodyard, of Dumas; his children Alexis, Connor and Schuyler Woodyard, of Dumas; his brothers, Charles J Woodyard, Jr., of Mobile, Alabama and Michael Woodyard, of Little Rock and a host of family, friends and colleagues. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 412 West 6th Avenue, Pine Bluff, with Father L. Warren Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com. His body will lie in state at Ralph Robinson & Son, Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic School Building Fund, 1501 West 73rd Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
