Jeffrey Shinault Day

Jeffrey Shinault Day, 52, of Fayetteville, died Feb. 16, 2011 of acute myeloid leukemia. He was born in Houston, Texas on Oct. 3, 1958 to Stephen and Sara Day. He served on the USS Ingersoll in the United States Navy from 1979 until 1983. He graduated with a degree in Horticulture from Ohio State University. Jeff can be remembered as the proud father of Susan and Caroline, the hard-working founder of The Flying Dog Vintage Mall and a rescuer of stray cats. Jeff's survivors include his wife, Carol; daughters, Susan and Caroline of Seneca, S.C.; his parents, Stephen Day of Bend, Ore. and Sara Day of Fayetteville; his brothers, Marcus Day of Fayetteville, Stephen Day Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; his sister, Katy Day Inhofe of Tulsa; and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Day Hauser and Sandra Day Mills. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville at 903 West Cleveland St. Jeff's brother-in-law, Rev. Douglas Inhofe will perform the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mad to the Humane Society of the Ozarks.
