Thomas Irvin McFadden

Thomas Irvin McFadden, 92, of Cave City died Wednesday. Born in Grays, Arkansas on September 16, 1918, he was the son of Jonas and Jessie (Balch) McFadden. He graduated from Radio School in Texarkana and worked as chief engineer for the transmitter at KARK-TV in Little Rock for 30 years before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, cabinetry, and different kinds of crafts; photography; flower gardening, and bird feeding. He was a fixer of all things. He was a person of great integrity and a loving, compassionate, and gentle soul. Mr. McFadden was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was the treasurer for several years at the Geyer Springs United Methodist Church in Little Rock. Survivors include his sons: Tom McFadden and his wife, Phyllis of Batesville and Dan McFadden and his wife, Elizabeth of Little Rock; six grandchildren: Daniel McFadden, Ashley Erwin, Annie McFadden, Lynleigh McFadden, Kaylie McFadden and Riley McFadden. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Ann Harrison McFadden; his second wife, Frances Holt McFadden; brothers: Frank McFadden and Lester McFadden; and a sister: Fannie Kate McCollum. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Rev. Bobby Womack officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Woodman Cemetery in McCrory under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
