Linda Jean Herndon

Linda Jean Purtle Herndon, 69, of Hope went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. She was born Nov. 28, 1941 to L.J. and Mary Petre Purtle of Hope, Ark. Linda was a graduate of Hope High School and the Arkansas Baptist Nursing University, where she went on to become a director of nursing, surgical nurse, home health nurse and wrote the first nursing curriculum for the University of Arkansas. After her nursing career she became a licensed funeral director. Linda was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Hope. After she retired she loved spending her days playing with her puppies and giggling with her granddaughter, she also enjoyed being out and about with her beloved parents and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.J. and Mary Purtle. She is survived by her husband, Joe Matt Herndon of Hope, Ark.; two daughters, Nicole J. Herndon of Hope, Ark. and Wendy G. Beck (Randy) of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Tonty R. Purtle (Sandy) of Little Rock, Ark. and Jim Purtle (Peggy) of Hope, Ark.; one sister, Dianne Campbell of Bryant, Ark.; one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Beck of New York, NY and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Bro.
