Fawnee Brown Coombe

Fawnee Brown Coombe, 91, of Bald Knob, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 in Searcy. She was born in Russell, Ark., Dec. 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Clarett and Effie Talley Brown. Fawnee was retired from General Industries in Bald Knob where she made and enjoyed many friendships over her 26 years of employment. She was an avid flower gardener having won many ribbons at the White County Fair for her entries. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Carlson (Larry) of South Haven, Mich., Phyllis Bratcher (Vernon Jr.) and Linda Varnell (Leroy) all of Bald Knob; sons, Tony Coombe (Anita) of Bald Knob and Charles Coombe (Vivian) of Legionere, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Brown Powell (George) of Byhalia, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murrell Coombe; son, Ray V. Coombe; two brothers, James A. Brown and Donald Brown. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. Service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with Bro. Doug Coombe officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
