Mary "Sue" Jones Elkins

Mary "Sue" Jones Elkins, age 88, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Trinity Village Medical Center. Mrs. Elkins was born June 6, 1922, in Pine Bluff, the daughter of Douglas and Docia Meeks Jones. Mrs. Elkins was reared and educated in Pine Bluff where she was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. She was also a charter member of Oak Grove Baptist Church at Dexter and a member of AARP. Mrs. Elkins worked at the Paul Green Grocery Store as an office clerk for thirteen years and later for Dr. John B. Witherspoon as a receptionist for three years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was preceded in death in 2007, by her husband, Elmer E. Elkins, whom she married June 5, 1938, in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Elkins is survived by a son Thomas E. Elkins of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Barbara Sue Buechley of De Soto, Texas and Linda Moyer of Little Rock; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend James Watson and Reverend Harold Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Arkansas Baptist Home for Children, 222 West Pope, Monticello, Arkansas 71655.
