Dr. Frank M. Hudson, 75 of Conway, after a brief illness died of complications from pneumonia on Tuesday February 22, 2011. He was born September 8, 1935 to the late Robert Ellis and Florence Bishop Hudson in Clarksville, Ark. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Marie Hudson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway. Frank graduated from Magnolia High School in 1953. He graduated at UCA with a BA (ASTC) in 1957. He received a MS in 1959 and PHD in Math from the University of Texas in 1964. Frank studied at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and Harvard University on NSF grants from 1961-62. He taught at Western State College from 1959-61 in Gunnison, Colo. He was a professor and chaired the Math Dept. at McMurray College, Abilene, TX. In 1967 he was a professor and chairman of the Math Dept. at UCA for 17 years, then remained Professor of Math until 1998. He was a Brownie Scout Leader, member of MAA, NCTM, and ACTM. In College he was involved in debate and drama. He was a disc jockey and news caster at KVMA in Magnolia from 1951-53 and at KCON in Conway from 1953-56. He was co-author with Donald Adlong of two college mathematics textbooks. Frank was President of the Conway Community Arts Association, and a team leader in olympics of the mind. He was a supporter of the Conway Symphony Orchestra and WildWood For The Performing Arts. He loved animals, especially his cats. Frank was a caring father and a devouted son and will be greatly missed. Frank is survived by his former wife of 47 years, Sandra Hudson, two daughters, Cindy Hudson, and Amanda Choquette, both of Conway, grandchildren, Monica, Gabrielle, and James Choquette, two cousins, Wanda Meador, and Nancy Braden. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 25th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway (501-327-7727) with Bro. Jaimie Alexander officiating, with burial following at Hudson Cemetery in Moreland. Serving as pallbearers will be Fletcher Smith, Mark Meador, Paul Butt, Don Adlong, Tom McAnally, and Darrell Kilman. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
