KURT ENGELBERT BORNE, 60, of Little Rock, died on Feb. 22, 2011. He was born on Feb. 24, 1950, in Tulsa, Okla., to Elizabeth Bandy Borné and the late Monte Engelbert Borné. Kurt grew up in Flippin, Ark. He graduated from Hall High School in Little Rock and attended the University of Arkansas and the University of Tulsa where he studied psychology. He returned to Little Rock where he began his career as an art dealer working for Don Robinson at Seventh Street Gallery. Kurt worked for Elizabeth Stein Gallery in St. Louis and later opened The Borné Gallery in Brentwood, Missouri. This was the beginning of a long career as an art dealer and certified art appraiser. He worked in Kansas City, St. Louis, New Orleans and Little Rock, and he had clients throughout the country. His expertise was in the American Regionalism art movement, and he was considered an expert on Thomas Hart Benton. Kurt is survived by his mother Elizabeth Borné of Bull Shoals; his brother Robin Borné and Robin's wife Susan of Little Rock; and his sisters Jan Broskovak of Mountain Home and Beth Kennedy of Bull Shoals. He was Uncle Bud to his nieces and nephews Chris, Eliza, Ben, Katie, Matt and Rachael. Kurt enjoyed close relationships with people throughout his life. His hobbies were playing the guitar, reading and boating. He especially enjoyed spending time on Lake Ouachita and Bull Shoals Lake. He lived life to the fullest – enjoying good friends, good food and good times. Thank you to his many friends who sustained him in recent years. We will all miss Kurt. Family and friends will gather at Bull Shoals Lake at a later date to celebrate his life.
