Betty F. Pate, 82, of Conway passed away on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011. She was born on Monday, Feb. 18, 1929 in Centerville, Ark., to the late Stanley and Zella (McNew) Shumate. She was a lifelong educator and earned her advanced degrees from the University of Central Arkansas. She previously taught in the Leslie, Marshall, Searcy, Clinton, and Conway Public School Districts. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Conway. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill Pate; two daughters, Toran Isom (James) and Kerry Stitch (Mark); brother, Royce Shumate (Glenna) of Greenbrier; sisters-in-law, Billie Shumate of Missouri and Margie Shumate, formerly of Conway; two grandsons, Brandon Lupkey (Danyelle) and Bo Stitch; granddaughter, Daria Isom; and two great-granddaughters, Loral and Caelyn of Sherwood. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cabe Isom; two brothers, Melton and Alton Shumate; and sister, Mildred Rodgers. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park with Mark Stitch, James Isom, Brandon Lupkey, Bo Stitch, Arvil Burks, Stanley Russ, and Joe White serving as pallbearers. Cabe Isom and James Clark will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. Memorial gifts may be given to one's personal charity.
