Mary Dale Whitwell

Mary Dale Whitwell, age 85 of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Baptist Health Medical Center. She was born on March 26, 1926 in Solgohachia, Arkansas to the late Richard and Mable Kellogg Broadway. Mary was a graduate of Morrilton High School and the Draughns School of Business in Little Rock. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Eastern Star and a member of the Oak Forest United Methodist Church for more than 58 years. Both Mary and her husband "Whit" owned and operated Whit's Shoe Store in Little Rock until their retirement in 1978. Survivors include her son, Stephen Whitwell and one grandson, Stephen "Whit" Whitwell Jr. both of Little Rock; two sisters, Maxine Bowles of Roland, Ark. and Nita Robinson of Conway, Ark.; one brother, Charles Broadway of Pigeon, Michigan, a very special friend and caregiver Yvonne Heard of Little Rock, Ark. and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Earl "Whit" Whitwell Jr. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark.
