David Goodgame, loving husband of Susan Clark Goodgame and devoted father to two daughters, Madeline Grace Goodgame and Chloe Elizabeth Goodgame, 16 and 22 years of age, respectively, died July 23, 2011 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born to Rita and Thomas Goodgame, June 5, 1960 in Little Rock, Arkansas. David attended Our Lady of Holy Souls Catholic School in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Monte Casino, Cascia Hall and Bishop Kelley Catholic schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His first summer job at Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health Center in Tulsa influenced David's life's work. He earned a BA degree in Philosophy from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and an ME in Counseling and Guidance from UT Austin and Texas State University. He willingly gave long hours of his free time counseling at Child and Family Services, Hospice, in-school programs and hospitals. He interned his pre-doctoral in Clinical Psychology at Houston Psychotherapy Institute and received his Ph.D. from Fielding Institute of Santa Barbara, Calif. David practiced in Houston until 2000. Upon returning to Tulsa, David had the pleasure of working again with his colleagues and friends at Shadow Mountain where he eventually became clinical director. David loved the Classics. He studied French, German and Greek, attended LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Heidelberg University in Heidelberg, Germany. He had a keen interest in both nature and the arts. He sometimes communicated with his mother via haiku and was accomplished in acoustical guitar. An avid reader, David consumed Webster's dictionary and the 26 World Books when he was just a boy. Though his life was shortened, David meditated, never lost hope and lived in the moment. An insatiable scholar, an excellent listener, a witty, kind and gentle man, David fought for his life with determination, bravery, humor and faith with the loving help of his wife and daughters, dedicated doctors, nurses, chaplains, priests, Hospice, family and friends. Thomas David Goodgame left the world a better place. He will be missed. David is survived by his wife, Susan, two daughters, Chloe and Maddie, his parents, Rita and Tom Goodgame Little Rock, Ark., four sisters, Kathy (Stewart) Taylor, Boston, Mass., Shawn (David) Snow, Little Rock, Ark., Carol (John) Dunkel, Huntsville, Ala., Diane (Tom) Rice, Columbia, Mo. and brother, John (Laura) Goodgame, Boston, Mass., brothers and sisters-in-law, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m.,, Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Tulsa, Okla. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to Clarehouse of Tulsa, Okla.
