Hershel Dean Herron, 68, Royal, Arkansas, died Monday June 6, 2011 at his home. He was born in Buckville, Arkansas, October 6, 1942 to Nollie and Gracie Herron. Hershel worked for the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center for 19 years, was a founding member of the Cannonball Deer Camp, and was the founder of Ouachita Marine Service in 1987 on Lake Ouachita. He was known by many for his skills and knowledge of boats – large and small. Hershal was of the Baptist faith and was baptized at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include Frankie Jo Herron, mother of his son Jeffery Dean Herron, and his dear devoted friend and caregiver Amy Lewis all of Royal; one granddaughter, Abby Herron and one extended family grandson, Hershel Clay Ford son of T.J. and Allyce Ford; two sisters, Connie Loscher of Benton, Arkansas and Freda Dunn of Hot Springs, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews. Hershel is preceded in death by his father, Nollie Herron, one sister, Peggy Herron and one brother, Russell Herron. Visitation is Thursday from 5-7 p.m., Caruth- Hale Funeral Home. Funeral service is Friday, 10 a.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Stacy Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Springs Cemetery in Buckville. The family encourages guests to wear casual attire. Pallbearers include Kevin Walters, Ronnie Richardson, T.J. Ford, Eddie Lynch, Aaron Caldwell and Dino Hunter. Honorary pallbearers include Freddie Meredith, Steve Laney, Phil Quickel, Ricky Dunn and Tommy Trantham.
