Gladys Moore Whitley, age 87, moved to Heaven on March 21, 2011. She blessed all those with whom she crossed paths and left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Known for her quick wit, mischievous grin and the twinkle in her eye, Gladys found fun in every situation; leaving a treasure trove of memories filled with laughter to enjoy. Though Gladys was accomplished with many talents, what she loved most was having family and friends fill her house, entertaining them with good food and games - the sounds of competition ringing through the air. Whether it was dueling card games, or some "suspect" bingo gifts she "assured" you were good, Gladys infused us all with a passion for living and the joy which could be found there. For 68 years, Gladys was married to the love of her life, William Emmett Whitley or "Whit" as she called him. Together, they have four children: Dinah Chambers and her husband Fred of Little Rock, Ark.; Bill Whitley and his wife Ann of Bella Vista, Ark.; Chrissie Allen and her husband Dave of Atlanta, Texas; and James Whitley and his wife Tanya of Bella Vista, Ark.; they have 11 grandchildren: Cheryl Chambers Conlin, Lacie Chambers, Allison Chambers, Heath Whitley, Heather Whitley, Holly Whitley Woolsey, Jordan Allen Thorton, Whitley Allen, Will Allen, Garrett Whitley and Gracie Whitley; and 11 great-grandchildren. Gladys grew up with five sisters in Steele, Missouri and the Moore girls were definitely a lively bunch, keeping everyone on their toes. Her sisters Aubrey Williams of Kansas City, Mo. and Laura Whitfield of Camden, Tenn. continue to carry on the Moore girls' traditions while Dorothy Moore Hester, Virginia Moore Chapman and Lonnie Jane Moore White have coordinated the heavenly celebration. In conjunction with Gladys' long standing belief of "seeing no reason for a pine box;" we will celebrate the life of Gladys Whitley at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Word of Life Fellowship, 808 SW 14th Street, in Bentonville, Ark. (479-273-3460). The family welcomes you to stay and visit after the service. In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Gladys' name be directed to: Watersprings Ranch, 7707 Sanderson Lane, Texarkana, Ark. 71854, (870) 772-7187 www.WaterspringsRanch.com, where she will continue to invest in the lives of others. Thank you for all of your many prayers. Gladys has left a Heritage to her children and children's children rich in faith, love, laughter and joy. Jeremiah 17:7-8. Online condolences may be made at www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care of Benton County Funeral Home of Downtown Rogers.
