Retha W. Oden

Retha W. Oden, age 92, of Crossett, Ark. departed this life on May 5, 2011 at the Ashley County Medical Center. She was born on January 28, 1919 in Amity, Ark. to the late Jerry and Maudie Burchfield. Mrs. Oden was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Garvin L. "Jack" Oden; five sisters, Melvie Burchfield, Iva Marshall, Ruby Vaughn, Roselee Vaughn, Gina Gargus; two brothers, Bill Burchfield, Samuel Burchfield; two sons-in-law, Herman Mills, Jearl Smith; one grandchild, Joe Mills and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Roy and Kenlee Grace Gilbert. Survivors include: one son, Gary L. Oden (Glenda) of Camden, Ark.; four daughters, Jackie Mills, Sue Smith, both of Crossett, Ark., Rusty Holderfield (Bud) of Woodlawn, Ark., Millie Connor (James) of Jonesboro, La.; three brothers, Curtis Burchfield of Jacksonville, Ark., Dewey Burchfield of Memphis, Tenn., Dee Burchfield of Marianna, Ark.; one sister, Lavern Hughes of Donaldson, Ark.; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Cloverdale Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Eden Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com). Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to Eden Cemetery, C/O Sue Stanley, 747 Hwy 8 W, Hamburg, Ark. 71646. Pallbearers are grandsons, Leland Mills, Tony Holderfield, Jason Holderfield, Greg Oden, Lance Oden, Ed Connor.
