Priscilla Gene Trussell

Priscilla Gene Provine Trussell, 71, of Conway, formerly of Little Rock, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, following a lengthy illness. Priscilla was born April 30, 1940 in Arkadelphia, Ark. to the late Almarene Eugene ("Gene") Provine and Lucille McDaniel Provine. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Dr. Thomas Weems Trussell of Little Rock, and infant granddaughter Mattie Anne Trussell. She is survived by children Nona Trussell Boatright and husband Luke of Lexington, Ky., Thomas Weems Trussell Jr. and wife Amanda of Conway, Lawrence Eugene Trussell and wife Anne of Conway, and Charles Benjamin Trussell of Little Rock and five grandchildren, all of Conway. Priscilla graduated from Arkadelphia High School and Ouachita Baptist University. She met the love of her life on a blind date her friend arranged for her at Hendrix College. She followed her parents' wishes and taught school for a few years, but later fulfilled her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She had nursing degrees from Midwestern State University of Wichita Falls, Texas and University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. She practiced nursing at Hamilton Hospital of Olney, Texas and several facilities in Central Arkansas, including Baptist Health Medical Center and St. Vincent Infirmary. She was a long-time enthusiastic member of St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, especially her friends in the Agape Sunday School Class. After moving to Conway she joined the First United Methodist Church and as she was able, attended worship and the Gussie Scales Sunday School Class. Up until 2006, she regularly joined a group of childhood friends for monthly lunches in Arkadelphia. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Charles Murray and Rev. Fred Haustein. Private burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Fordyce at 2 p.m. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Dr., Conway, Ark. 72034, 501-327-5000. Memorials may be made in Priscilla's name to the St. Joseph School Endowment, 1315 College Avenue, Conway, Ark. 72034.
