William Clayborn Fletcher

May 10, 2011 Mr. William Clayborn Fletcher Jr. of Forrest City, Arkansas died on Monday, May 9, 2011 at his home. Mr. Fletcher was born February 28, 1924 in Memphis. He was the son of W. C. Fletcher and Bessie Perkins Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher graduated from Forrest City High School and attended Henderson University before entering the United States Army in 1943 and served until 1946. During that service to his country he spent several months in the occupation of Japan. Clayborn was an avid golfer and encouraged and taught his children to enjoy the game. He was a member of the golf team at Henderson University. He was retired from St. Francis Material Company and was a member of the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mr. Fletcher married Ada Louise DeRossitt in 1949 and she survives him along with two daughters, Fran (Phil) Shannon of Germantown, Tennessee and Betty (David) Eldridge of Widener, Arkansas; two sons, Clay (Nancy) Fletcher of Palestine, Arkansas and Brice (Sonya) Fletcher of Widener. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Casey Shannon, Katie (Brad) Seessel, Clabe Fletcher, Christopher Fletcher, Emily (Casey) Spencer, Jules Fletcher and Klint Keown. One great-grandchild also survives him, Henry Seessel. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City. Rev. Larry Mitchell will be officiating.
