U Z Reed

U. Z. REED, 86, of North Little Rock, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 in Little Rock, Ark. He was born to the late Martin V. and Lois Witt Reed on Sept. 13, 1924 in White Star, Kent. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of North Little Rock was retired from Montgomery Ward as a salesman. U.Z. was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a Purple Heart Recipient of WWII. A special thanks to the doctors and staff of 6C and V.A. Hospice for their kindness and caring of U.Z. U.Z. is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Moorman Reed of North Little Rock; son, Richard Reed (Vickie) of Maumelle; daughter, Rebecca Reed of North Little Rock; sister, Vyvette Solt of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Stacie McLendon, Mike McLendon and Allen Reed. He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Reed, four brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 4525 Lynch Drive, North Little Rock, Ark. 72117. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
