Today we celebrate the life of Pat Nicholson, November 3, 1941-May 16, 2011. She grew up in Warren, Arkansas, where she met her husband, Dale Nicholson whom she was married to for 52 years. Warren, Arkansas to Atlanta, Georgia as newlyweds, you could take the newlyweds out of Arkansas, but you couldn't take Arkansas out of the newlyweds. Pat wasn't a fan of the big city so they could drive home to Warren almost every weekend, not easy on two lane highways in an unairconditioned car. A year later they would move to Little Rock where they started their great run at life. Pat and Dale had two children, Kelli and Nick. Her family meant the world to her. For the next 50 years, she dedicated her life to her husband, her children, eventually grandchildren, great-grandchild and her friends. After the grandchildren came around, she became known as Mom Pat and was affectionately referred to as Mom Pat by everyone. Being with family and friends is what she lived for. There is nothing more she would rather do than cook a great meal and entertain her family and friends. Mom Pat had a large extended family at KATV. The Channel 7 family was always welcome in her home. She had a wonderful life with her beloved husband. From humble beginnings in a small town in Arkansas, they would eventually travel the world together; Rome, Florence, Switzerland, China, and the plains of Africa. Pat loved to travel. She had an adventurous spirit. To kiss the Blarney stone is somewhat of a harrowing experience, having to lean over a precipice on your back while being held onto by others. Pat was determined to kiss the Blarney stone, and she did. For the past twenty years, she battled a kidney disease, but never complained. She was determined to get the most out of life, and she did. Pat is survived by her husband, Dale Nicholson, her daughter, Kelli Miller and her husband Charles Miller, her son, Nick Nicholson and his wife Sophie Nicholson, granddaughters, Cameryn Miller, Meredith Miller, grandsons Davis Nicholson, Winston Nicholson, Dale Nicholson, III, and his wife Cassie Nicholson and their daughter, Pat's great grandchild, Natalee, and Pat's cousin "sister" Nancy Vittitow. Pat was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Little Rock and a member of the alter guild. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, with The Reverend Dr. Michael L. Mattox and The Reverend Mary Jane Cole officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Little Rock, 723 Center Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
