In the pre dawn hours on May 17, Marybeth Brown passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Savior. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 3, 1922. As a young child, Marybeth dreamed of being a nurse. She accomplished that dream, and became a Registered Nurse and entered active duty in the Army Nurse Corp in 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin as 2nd Lieutenant. She was stationed at Kennedy General Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee where she met her future husband, Earl Brown, who was a patient. After the war, they settled in Jonesboro, Arkansas where they made their home. In 1965, they moved to Little Rock, where Marybeth was a nursing instructor at St. Vincent School of Practical Nursing until she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. She volunteered in the parish library and also in the CICU waiting room at St. Vincent Infirmary. Her proudest accomplishment was in caring for two of her great-grandchildren, Hannah and Lauren, while their parents worked. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Irma Bond, and three brothers, Arthur, Leonard, and Gordon, her husband Earl Brown, and infant daughter Pamela Sue. Cherishing her memory are one daughter, Sharon Lewis, grandson, Heath Lewis and his wife Tina, granddaughter, Heather Duran and her husband Alex, great-grandchildren, Nick, Hannah, Lauren, Lindsey and one great-great-grandson, Logan. Heath, Heather and Sharon would like to especially thank their employers, Centers for Youth and Families, and Dr.'s Dean Kumpuris, Glenn Davis, and Arshad Malik and co-workers for their endurance, love and support in our effort to keep our loved one at home during her long illness. Our heartfelt thanks to caregivers, Diane France, Mistie Griffin, Kaye Leary and Mary Kelley and to the staff at Arkansas Hospice who provided weekly care at home for Marybeth and ministered to her for the last two weeks in the inpatient facility. We deeply appreciate everything you did for her and our family. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday, May 20 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m., Thursday, May 19, with Rosary beginning at 7:00pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. (501)-661-9111.
