Eugenia (Genie) Jackson Arrington was born on March 29, 1923 at Mena, Arkansas, and died on May 19, 2011. She is survived by her sons Richard (Debbie) and Ro; one grandson Jackson, all of Little Rock; two brothers, Edwin and Robert and their wives; and numerous nephews and nieces, all living in Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Gene Jackson, and her sister, Dorothy Ryan. Before her first birthday, she moved to Albany, Texas, and lived there until her sophomore year in high school, when the family moved to Cisco, Texas, where she was a popular and active student, graduating with honors in the Class of 1940. She entered North Texas University that fall and enjoyed her studies there, earning her Bachelors Degree in Library Science. Her college years were interrupted in 1943 and 1944, as she joined the war effort working as a Draftsman in the Convair Bomber Plant in Fort Worth, Texas. She remarked when hired that she didn't even know what a draftsman did, but learned quickly enough to earn several promotions during her short time there. Since 1970, Genie had lived in Arkansas, the majority of it in Flippin, in Marion County. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Cotter, Arkansas, for many years. She was a beloved educator and member of the Communities in both Flippin and Cotter, serving as Librarian and English Teacher to generations of loving students. Mrs. A. was a favorite. But first and foremost she was a loving mother to her sons, whom she adored. Her home was always open to their friends, and her life revolved around them. Later in life, her grandson, Jackson, rightfully took center stage, while his mother, Richard's wife Debbie, was the daughter she never had. Loving and caring for Genie in every way all the way, up until her death. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116, or Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
