Billy Ray Hogue

Billy Ray (Bill) Hogue, 72, of Heber Springs, formally of Benton, passed away May 17, 2011. He was born June 3, 1938 in Altheimer, Ark. to the late Earcle and Edythe Hogue. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joann Hogue. He Joined the National Guard at the age of 15 and later at 17, joined the Air Force for four years. In 1959 he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until October of 1980, retiring as a MCPO with 27 years of service. Bill was a Vietnam veteran, where he earned several medals, the highest being the Bronze Star. He was the Commander of the VFW Posts in Benton and Heber Springs for nine years and then Commander of the American Legion in Heber Springs for four years. Bill loved two things in life, the first was his family and the other was the United States Navy. Survivors, sons, Johnny Bradshaw, Oklahoma, Rickey Bradshaw, North Carolina, Jimmy Hogue, Massachusetts, Timmy Hogue, Texas; daughter, Tina Lynn Hogue, Georgia; brother, Bruce Hogue, Owensville; and sister, Bertha Hodge, Benton; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Forest Hills Cemetery by Ashby Funeral Home.
