Jewel M. Stewart, 97, of Judsonia, died, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the White County Medical Center. She was born July 18, 1913 in Lawrence County, Arkansas a daughter of the late Hosea Goodwin Penn and Harriett Gertrude Sullivan Penn. She was a faithful member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church for over 80 years and her family and church were of top priority. She also enjoyed quilting, flowers and sports. Jewel retired from the White County Hospital in 1978 and was a homemaker. She is survived by her 4 children, Wyona Osgatharp of Waynesboro, Pa., Frank Stewart (Reva) of Pangburn, Austin Stewart (Patty) of Judsonia and Phyllis Goodin (Sam) of Judsonia; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl O. Stewart; son, Joe Stewart; grandson, Steven Doyle Stewart and son-in-law, Joe Osgatharp. Services will be conducted on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Bro. Julius Copeland and Bro. Mike Patrick will officiate and her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
