Stephen Harold Lane

STEPHEN HAROLD LANE, age 59, of North Little Rock, passed from this life to an eternal life on May 26, 2011. Steve was born Sept. 4, 1951 in Conway, Ark. He was a deacon at Crystal Valley and sang with the gospel group, Cross Reference. He was employed by Old Dominion Freight Line as a truck driver. Steve was a five-time state bareback champion of the Arkansas Rodeo Association and competed on the pro-rodeo team, Arkansas Spurs. One of his greatest joys was teaching boys how to ride bareback horses, and was known as Pop or Daddy Lane by many young people. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 34 years, Martha; one daughter, Casey; one special grandson, Marek Lane Andrews, both of Jonesboro; mother, Sarah Lane, of Conway; brother, Bill (Patricia) Lane, of Greenwood; step-mother, Bess Lane, of Perryville; and a God-child, Baileyann Barrett, of North Little Rock. He will be missed by Scotty (Jessica), Toby, and Ellie Drennan, of Teague, Texas, who chose him as a father and grandfather figure. He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bud) Lane; grandparents, Cecil and Dorothy Lane, and Hubert and Anna Faye Futrell. Steve's unique sense of humor and his love for life will be missed by many. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crystal Valley Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Burial will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
