GORDON KNOWLES WHYTE of Maumelle was born 1923 in Dundee, Scotland and died May 27, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, June and one step-son, Greg Racicot and his wife, the Hon. Nancy Racicot of Lexington, Ky., one sister, Rena Duncan of Dundee and three nephews, Gavin Duncan, Dundee, Fergus Duncan and Douglas Walker of Edinburgh, one niece, Fiona Haugen of Oslo, Norway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandy and Davina Whyte and a sister Wilamina Walker of Dundee. He was a member of the RAF during WWII, an engineer whose work took him to London, Rhodesia, Africa, Abilene, Texas, Los Angeles and Little Rock. He was engineering manager for Timex at Hot Springs, Ark., and later owner of Mid-South Machine and Tool until his retirement in 1985. As a youth, he was a member of the boys choristers at St Pauls Episcopal Cathedral in Dundee where he studied music and became an accomplished pianist. He was a long time member of the Maumelle Country Club where he enjoyed golf and a love of sports, especially soccer and his Razorbacks. The family wishes to thank all the members of Maumelle First Baptist Church and especially Jim Case and the Bible study class. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 W. 12th St., Little Rock, (501) 661-9111 with Rev. Johnny Jackson, officiating.
