Goldie Jeanette Booher

Goldie Jeanette Booher, 67, of Conway, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011. Wife of June Avanda Booher, mother of Brooks Van Booher and Veronica Desha Wheeler (Hebard). Her son Brooks and his wife Susan have two boys, Bryton Cole Booher, 16, and Blaine Booher, 13, and they live in Conway. Her daughter, Veronica, is married to John Hebard and they reside in Russellville. Jeanette was born June 20, 1943 in Mayflower, Ark., to James Hosie and Ada Etta Long (Washam). She graduated from Mayflower High School in 1961. She has five brothers and sisters: James Long and his wife Earlene from Mayflower, Ark., Myrtle Patrick and her husband Bill from California, Betty Foster and her husband Max from Alexander, Ark., Larry Long from Mayflower, Ark., and Cathy Dycus and her husband Tommy of Virginia. Jeanette graduated from Mayflower High School in 1961 and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She and June are members of the Lifeline Fellowship in Mayflower. Jeanette was employed at Timex in Little Rock for several years where she met and held onto long lasting friendships with many people. Jeanette's greatest gift, for both her and everyone around her, was her role as a caregiver for all the children of friends and family in and around Mayflower. For over 30 years, she rose up early in the morning to cuddle up to all the little ones, get them fed, washed up and dressed and ready for the day, then watched over them throughout the day as their mothers and fathers were away. She'd always have each of them a Halloween treat bag, a Christmas gift, and birthday wishes ready and waiting for them when they came by on those days, and she still does for a great many of her "children" to this day. She attended all their graduations, and was as proud of each one of them as their own moms and dads were. Everyone always had a hug for "Aunt Nette". She loved to keep up with her lifelong friends, as well as her brothers, sisters, and sisters-in-law, by telephone, and to visit them when she could. In her later years, her and June began to travel more often to visit these friends and relatives and they made several trips in search of their ancestry. Jeanette received the Holy Ghost in February of 2004 in a little church in Morrilton. Her sister-in-law, Sue convinced her to go to the alter, and after hearing "Just a little talk with Jesus" and "I'll fly away", there came her shining moment. Jeannette was very ill for many years later in life, and during her periods of great pain and suffering, she would pray to God to let her live until her two grandsons grew up. He granted that request. Over the last few years, she had the chance to attend countless basketball, football and soccer games that Blaine and Bryton played in. Those boys were the sparkle in her eyes. Jeanette was a fun person and everyone loved to be around her. She made sure everyone was having a good time. There was no evil in her, and there was no one else like her. In many ways, her passing can be counted as a blessing; and end to her pain and suffering. But to those of us who knew and loved her, especially her husband June, their life together ended too soon. His heart is broken. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lifeline Fellowship Church in Mayflower with Pastor Walt Hollis and Brother Ronald Patrick officiating. Burial will be Mayflower Cemetery.
