Jimmie Lee Simpson

Jimmie Lee Simpson, 75, of Bearden died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his home. He was born June 15, 1935 in El Dorado, Ark. He was retired from the United States Air Force and LTV in East Camden. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bearden and a member of the Lion's Club. Jimmie Lee was an avid lover of softball. He developed the "World's Tallest Trophy" tournament which brought players from Texas, Mississippi and Oklahoma to the small town of Bearden. He also coached a women's team, Anthony Grocery. He loved to deer hunt with the "Anthony Boys" which led to many tales that will continue to be told and give all a good laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Carrie Frazier Simpson, and wife, Peggy Curran Simpson. He is survived by three sons, Ralph Simpson of Bearden, Johnny Simpson of Bearden and Scott Simpson of Little Rock; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Al Bowen of Bearden; one brother, Ralph Simpson and wife Betty of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Brooke Vaughan and Dustin Bowen both of Bearden; four great-grandchildren, Lillian Bowen, Garrett Bowen, Madelyn Vaughan and Olivia Vaughan all of Bearden; nephew, Mark Simpson and wife Rebecca of Little Rock; and his beloved dog, Duffy. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bearden with Rev. Andy Hughes officiating. Burial at Moss Cemetery.
