John Gatling "Jack" Bridgforth

Mr. John Gatling "Jack" Bridgforth of Forrest City, Arkansas died at his home on Thursday, November 10, 2011. Mr. Bridgforth was born November 3, 1917 in Forrest City. He was the son of Lindsay Bridgforth and Elizabeth Gatling Bridgforth. Mr. Bridgforth attended Washington and Lee University and was a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he lettered in tennis and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a charter member of the Forrest City Country Club, served on the bank board of the First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas for 50 years, was a school board member and was a lifelong farmer and avid golfer. Mr. Bridgforth served on the Vestry and was a Senior Warden at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Mr. Bridgforth is survived by his wife of 72 years, Sallie Dudley Bridgforth. He is also survived by a son, John Dudley Bridgforth and wife Beth of Forrest City; three daughters, Betty McCorkle and husband Ed of Arkadelphia, Sallie Hansen and husband Paul of Phoenix, Arizona and Lindsay Hodges and husband Dave of Forrest City. Five grandchildren survived him, Mary Lindsay White and husband John, Philip McCorkle, David Bridgforth, Mary Dudley Hodges and Elizabeth Hodges, along with two great-grandchildren, Asher and Philip White. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery.
