Doris Mervine Anderson of Little Rock, age 91, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20th. She was the daughter of the later Walter L. and Cora B. Bruner of Robinson, Ark. She graduated from Siloam Springs High School, attended John Brown University, and was a graduate of Fayetteville Business College. She worked four years in Bentonville, Ark., for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and two years in the law offices of Val T. Lindsey until June 1948, at which time she was married to Robert W. Anderson and moved to Little Rock. After raising her three daughters, she was employed by National Marine Fisheries Services in Little Rock until retiring in 1982. She was past matron of Bentonville, Chapter 295, Order of the Easter Star of Arkansas and received a 50 year membership pin. She was also a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Joy Circle, U.M.W., Agape Sunday School Class and the 39ers. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the National Associated of Retired Federal Employees. She was also past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service at Hunter United Methodist Church and received a lifetime membership pen. She resided at Parkway Village for the past six years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Anderson; a brother, Walter Lee Bruner Jr.; sister, Maxine Draper; and son-in-law, Dr. David Bourne. Survivors are three daughters, Brenda Nelson (John), Paula Anderson, Sherry Johnson (Jim). Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Chris Nelson (Heather), Carla Bray (Greg), Ian Bourne, Chad Johnson and two great grandchildren, Cash and Miles Bray. "Nana" was a special and loving person to all she touched. She was also a wonderful seamstress and great cook, specializing in Nana corn and Oreo pie. She leaves us with many fond memories. We are comforted in knowing her recent suffering has ended and she is now at peace. Arrangements are being made by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home. 501-661-9111.
