Mr. David J. Cohn, age 56, of Forrest City, Ark. died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at his home in Forrest City. Mr. Cohn was born Sept. 30, 1955 in Memphis, Tenn. He was the son of William Cohn and Suzanne Bronstein Cohn. Mr. Cohn owned and operated Forrest City Grocery Company and Tobacco Superstores until his illness, and is a member of Temple Israel in Memphis. He was a member of the Arkansas Oil Marketers Association, Retail Tobacco Dealers of America and the Associated Wholesale Grocers. He was past president of the Forrest City Country Club. Mr. Cohn was a philanthropist and gave to many worthwhile causes, especially in his hometown of Forrest City. He has endowments established with the St. Francis Community Foundation, which is an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation in Little Rock. The David Cohn "Wishes" Endowment was established by his wife, Marsha, and their children on his birthday so he could grant wishes to the needy and nonprofits forever. He and his family have supported the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and is an Ambassador for the University of Memphis athletic programs. Mr. Cohn married Marsha Smith in 1985 and she survives him along with a son, Perry Partain, of Forrest City; three daughters, Hannah Reeves and husband Justin, Emily Cohn and Kelli Cohn all of Forrest City; his mother, Suzanne Cohn of Forrest City; two sisters, Sandra Halpern and husband David of Altoona, Pa., and Sharon Cohn and nephews Jake, A.J. and Matt Kolonis of Memphis; a brother Allen Cohn and wife Lauren and nephews Marcus and Michael of Memphis, and his caretaker Deangelo Williamson of Memphis. Mr. Cohn was preceded in death by his father, Mr. William Cohn; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Bronstein of New York and Mr. and Mrs. Sol Cohn of Forrest City. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Forrest City Civic Center. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery in Forrest City.
