Virginia Lucille Gwatney "Nana" Sielert, 82, of Conway, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Orange Park, Florida, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Conway. She was born June 8, 1929 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Chester (Check) Gwatney and the late Mary Metrailer Gwatney. On December 1, 1947 she married Allen Rhodes Sielert of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the love of her life, in Conway, Arkansas. They spent 57 wonderful years together. During her younger years she served as a ticket girl for Conway Theater. After moving to Poplar Bluff she spent 31 years working for the Fiscal Service Department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Poplar Bluff. In 1990 Mr. and Mrs. Sielert retired to Orange Park, Florida. They enjoyed traveling, gaming and dancing. She was dearly loved and treasured for her humor, wit and compassion. Lala, as she was known by her loving family, was considered the heart of the entire family and led many conversations and childhood stories over her delicious home cooked meals, especially her clover leaf rolls. All looked forward to hand written poems for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. Lala loved singing and playing cards. Her signature style was her polished red nails and styled hair. She was a member of First Christian Church of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mrs. Sielert was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, E.A. Massey; husband; a brother Royce Lee Gwatney; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Berry Gwatney. She is survived by a son, John Allen Sielert and wife Deb of Sturgeon, Missouri; daughters, Pamela Batson of Orange Park, Florida and Tina Hillman and husband Rich of Carlisle, Arkansas; brother, Robert Joseph Gwatney of Conway, Arkansas; sisters, Evelyn Gwatney Stephens and husband John of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Jane Gwatney Duke and husband Ronnie of Conway, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Gloria Hensley Gwatney Massey of Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, Dr. William Allen Batson of West Palm Beach, Florida, Heather Dawn Batson of Atlanta, Georgia, Lili Amanda Sielert and Charles Allen Sielert both of Sturgeon, Missouri, Joseph Collin Torian and Caroline Elizabeth Torian both of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011, in the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway (501) 327-7727.
