H.S. (Billy) Quantz

H.S. (Billy) Quantz went to be with his Lord on September 6, 2011. He was born in Haskell on June 28, 1931 to Cora Elizabeth and W.A. (Bill) Quantz. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa after 35 years. Billy served on the Harmony Grove School Board for 10 years and was Mayor of Haskell for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Bertha Hardy and Faye Clark. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma Quantz, three children, Sharon Finley and husband, Tim, Donny Quantz and Patty McCormack and husband, Eddie all of Haskell, brother, Bobby Quantz and wife, Sue, five grandchildren, Cristin Davis, Eric Quantz and wife, Brandy, Jason Finley and wife, Taylor, Bethany McCarver and husband, Jace, Matthew Quantz, eight great-grandchildren, Cameron and Colby Byrd; Dylan, Brady and Gavin Quantz and Colton Gage, Drew and Austyn Finley. Several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Saline Memorial Hospice for their gentle professionalism and for lovingly embracing our family as though we were their own. They made passing from this world to the next an easier transition for Billy and his family as well. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we thank Saline Memorial Hospice, Dr. Dan Cartaya, Brother Kim Hammer, Kristi, Renita, Meredith and the staff at Hospice House. Also, thank you to a special friend, Marilyn Grifford. Pallbearers will be Morris Nichols, Alfred Blair, Barney Phillips, Bobby McCallister, Jackie Mills and Jimmy Shepard. Chapel Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 11 a.m., Saturday with Brother Bob Wiegel and Brother Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell. Visitation will be at Ashbys, Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be sent to Saline Memorial Hospice House, 23157 I-30, Bryant, Arkansas 72022, Cross Roads Baptist Church Youth Fund, or Harmony Grove Football Program. Family Comments: He loved God, his family, deer hunting, and helping other people.
