Clyde Cossey

Mr. Clyde Cossey, 59, of Portland, died Friday, April 6, 2012 in Lake Village. Mr. Cossey was a native of Parkdale and a resident of Portland and Parkdale all of his life. He graduated from Portland High School and he worked for Alice Sidney for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, the Austin & Coker Hunting Club and he was a Mason and a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge No. 499. He was a Captain with the Portland Volunteer Fire Department. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Cossey in 2008; his parents, Arvle and Evelene Foster Cossey; two sisters, Marcille Cossey and Joyce Carty and two brothers, Dean & Leon "Al" Cossey. He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Cossey Hicks and her husband, Bryant, of Portland; a sister, Vivian Byrd of Lake Village; two grandchildren, Chrissy and Jackson Hicks and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Townsend and Rev. Sammy Land officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers are L.D. Prescott; Jerad Selby, Bobby Mashburn, Tommy Frazer, William Lassiter and Ervin White. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Keith Ladd, 186 Ashley 121 Road, Hamburg, Ark. 71646. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
