Jane Kolb Callaway, 77 of North Little Rock, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012. Jane was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Clarksville, Ark., the daughter of the late James M.,Kolb Sr, M.D., and Mrs. Reba Garner Kolb. She was a 1953 graduate of Clarksville High School, and the University of Arkansas in 1957, where she was active in student government and a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha where she served as President. In 1959, she obtained a degree in medical technology from the University of Arkansas Medical School (UAMS) in Little Rock. Her professional career intersected with the development of early procedures for assisting open-heart surgery through cardiopulmonary perfusion. She became certified as one of the first practicing Clinical Cardiovascular Perfusionists and became an asset to heart surgeons at the University of Arkansas Medical Center and St. Vincent Infirmary. Jane was a loving and generous individual with great faith in God. A 50-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Jane was initiated into Chapter Q (Clarksville), and later transferred to Chapter AK (North Little Rock) where she served as President. She was also a loyal supporter of Razorback football. She rarely missed a home game and attended every Homecoming for 64 years. Jane was preceded in death by husband, James Richard Callaway, M.D., and is survived by one son, James Richard Callaway, Jr, M.D., one daughter, Reba Jane Driver and husband Joe, and one grandson, James Kelly Driver all of North Little Rock; one brother, James M. Kolb, Jr., M.D. (Patricia) of Russellville; a special friend Kenneth Cates, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400). Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Clarksville, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
