Erma Elane Koon

Erma Elane Koon, 76, of Little Rock passed away on April 14, 2012. Elane spent her final days surrounded by family and friends. She was born on Sept. 2, 1935. Elane was always a hard worker. She was one of 17 children raised by Omer and Rosa Lillian Palmer. She went to school at Fuller and was on a winning basketball team. She went to work at a young age at McClelland Department store in downtown Little Rock, Ark. She worked Tuff Nutt while raising her young family and took a few years off to be a stay at home mom and returned to work where she retired from Teletype at age 55. Elane was a member of the IBEW Union and the Pioneers Club. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in her early years. Elane enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing , quilting and loved to play cards. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is proceeded in death by her father O.C. Palmer and mother Lillian Kindy Palmer, husband Henry Monroe Koon, brother Aaron Palmer and sister Louise Young. She is survived by: daughter, Avis and Marty Ort, son, Wesley and Sharon Roberts, son, Bruce and Jenny Roberts, son, Mark and Kim Roberts, daughter, Beverly and Julie Huddleston-Koon; her siblings, Doyle Palmer, Betty Crook, Martha Hardin, Bonnie Jett, Patsy Miller,Gordon Palmer, Patsy Barnhill, Faye Lynn Jennings, Frankie Palmer, Oma Lou Mellor, Larry Palmer and Ricky Palmer. Elane is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with another great grandchild on the way, and host of extended family and friends, all who will miss her dearly. Pallbearers are Matt Morris, Brent Palmer, Shaun Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Stephen Roberts and Nicholas Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are her brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 18, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home with burial to follow in Little Rock National Cemetery.
