Irma Falls Stinson

Irma Falls Stinson died April 15 in Camden, Ark. Wife of the late John McCollum Stinson Jr., of Camden, Mrs. Stinson was born in Danville, Ark., Feb. 8, 1912, the eldest child of the late Andrew Naill Falls and Mary Anne Davis Falls. In addition to Mr. Stinson and her parents, Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by two brothers, Erskine Falls and his wife, Anne, of Memphis, Tenn., and Harold Falls and his wife, Jessie, of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Elta Houser, and her husband, Hervey, of Wynne, Ark., and Helen Anne Falls of Russellville, Ark. She is survived by her sons, John McCollum Stinson III of Bethesda, Md., and James Falls Stinson of Camden, Ark.; her daughter, Anne Stinson Crow, and her husband, King, of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Andrew Crow and his wife, Sara, of San Francisco, Ca.; Mary Katherine Stinson and Elizabeth Stinson of Bethesda, Md.; Peter Crow and Mary Crow of Dallas, Texas; and one great-grandson. Mrs. Stinson attended public schools in Dardanelle and Russellville, Ark., and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, Miss., now Mississippi University for Women. She moved to Camden in 1938 to teach English at Camden High School and was married to Mr. Stinson in 1941. They were married 42 years. Mrs. Stinson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Camden, United Methodist Women's Sub Group 1, Camden New Century Club, the Junior Auxiliary of Camden, the Tate's Bluff Chapter of DAR, the Ouachita County Historical Society where she served on the Board of Directors and the Camden Country Club. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow in the Great Hall. Rev. Buddy Ratliff will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Irma F. Stinson Memorial Fund at the First United Methodist Church., 121 Harrison St., N.W., Camden, Ark. 71701.
