Allene Rogers Wells

Allene Rogers Wells, age 98, of Hot Springs, Ark. departed this life to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2012. She was born on January 14, 1914 in Little Rock to Jennie Glover Rogers and William Sanford Rogers. Allene graduated from Little Rock High School in 1931 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She then attended Little Rock Junior College. She and her husband, Jack B. Wells, lived in several Arkansas towns during Mr. Wells' career with Southwestern Bell Telephone. Allene was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Camden, Arkansas. She was a member of the Couples Sunday School Class and an active member in United Methodist Women. Allene also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of two bridge groups. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and daughter, Gene Dlugach. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Hefley; and three brothers, Eugene S. Rogers, Fred A. Rogers and Glen F. Rogers. Allene is survived by her son and his wife, Jack and Carolyn Wells of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; her son-in-law, Sam Dlugach of Memphis, Tennessee; and one sister, Pauline Lewis of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be sent to the First United Methodsit Church, 121 Harrison, Camden, Ark. 71701. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 3, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
