Mr. Birtrum Mason Price passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in Ruston, La., at the age of 91. He was born in Calamine, Sharp County, Ark., Dec. 9, 1920, to George T. and Junie Mason Price. He graduated from Lafe High School in Lafe, Ark. Mr. Price was a World War II veteran, where he served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater for 38 months. He was an alumnus of Arkansas State College (now Arkansas State University), where he obtained a B.S. in agriculture. He was an avid gardener and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hope, Ark., for over 40 years. He retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department in 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his sister Emma Jean Price Stanage.  Mr. Price is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Smith Price of Ruston, La.; one daughter, Dr. Jenna Price Carpenter and her husband Walter Carpenter also of Ruston; two sisters, Betty S. Bass of Richmond, Calif., and Madyleen Holifield of Paragould, Ark.; two grandchildren, Trey Carpenter and Emma Carpenter of Ruston; and 11 nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Paragould, on Monday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. with Jason Treadway officiating with burial in Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hope, Ark.; First Baptist Church of Paragould, Ark.; or Temple Baptist Church of Ruston, La.
