Mary Victoria Lindsay

Mary Victoria Lindsay was born Feb. 14, 1917, in Jamestown, Ark. and died Nov. 30, 2012, at the age of 95. Her parents were John Wesley Knight and Vannah Victoria York Knight. Preceding her in death was her husband, George William Lindsay; two brothers and a sister. Her early education was in Jamestown. At the age of 59, she took her nurse's aid course and became a private sitter. She worked more than 20 years at Ben Pearson Inc. and later as a private sitter until the age of 82. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Pines Chapter 517 Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered at the Dexter Harding House, Custom Cutters and AARP. She loved to sew until her eyesight failed. Survivors are four children, Marilyn Frances Lindsay Kimbrell and Billy F. of Pine Bluff, Ann Carolyn Lindsay Gorman and Bob, of Dyersburg, Tenn., James Harold (Butch) Lindsay of Fairborn, Ohio, Linda Sue Power of Pine Bluff. She has five grandchildren, Billy James Kimbrell (Debbie) of Dover, Ark., Phyllis Jean Denton (Chris) of Mesquite, Texas, Christopher Lawrence (Chris) Gorman (Sherrie) of Trimble, Tenn., Katrina Angelina (Angie) Riley (Reed) of Dyersburg, Tenn., Catherine Leigh White (Chris) of Gladewater, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Don Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Sunday evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72203.
