Catherine Stewart Buttrum Young, 59, passed away on Dec. 1, 2012, at her home in Benton. Catherine (Cathy) was born on Jan. 21, 1953, in Little Rock, to the late Floyd Mitchell Buttrum and Catherine Stewart Buttrum. She was a 1971 graduate of Hall High School and a 1975 graduate of Louisiana Tech University, with a B.S. in Accounting. Cathy was a Certified Public Accountant and was employed by UAMS for more than 28 years. As the Manager of Cost Accounting and Decision Support for UAMS Financial Management, she was highly respected by those she worked with and she absolutely loved her work. In 2011, Cathy was one of the recipients of the UAMS Phenomenal Women Award. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Benton and active in the Friendship Sunday School class. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Eddy Ray Young of Benton, two sons, Andy Young of Little Rock and Brad Young of Benton, a sister, Alice Adams of Little Rock and numerous nephews and nieces. Cathy was an amazing woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock followed by funeral services at 1 p.m. in the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Jones officiating. Afterward, a graveside service and burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.
