Frederick Richard (Fred) Evans, 76, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Tuesday November 27, 2012 in Costa Rica. He was born in Little Rock, Ark. November 24, 1936. He is survived by his brother, Grover Evans of Little Rock, Ark.; daughters, Debbie Dalen of Arlington, Texas, Lisa Paluch of Little Rock, Ark., Brandi Evans of Boulder City, Nev; son, Rick Evans of Oviedo, Fla.; stepdaughters, Polly Evans of Chester, NY and Teresa Ryan of Torrance, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Mary, father, Grover C. Evans and mother, Rebecca Evans. Fred attended Little Rock Central High School and Little Rock University (now UALR). After college he worked for the family business, GC Evans Mfg of Little Rock, and joined the National Guard where he was very proud of attaining the rank of Captain. Later, Fred moved to Central Florida and opened Packaging Systems Corp in Sanford, Florida, where he made many improvements to the Packaging Industry. He also owned and operated "Someplace Else," a local gathering establishment, a Shrimp processing plant & Metal Building manufacturing company. Later, he moved to Las Vegas, where he regularly participated in Professional Poker Tournaments and sold RV's. After retirement, Fred moved to Costa Rica, where he had many adventures, his favorite was working on a tug boat as it traveled the west coast from California to Mexico. He spent his final years in Costa Rica. Known for his "take charge" personality, Fred was always quick with a smile or some fatherly advice, and always enjoyed the poker table. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and generosity with family, friends and employees. A special Thank You to Paul Winderman for being a great friend to Fred while in Cost Rica and Ruebel Funeral Home for all of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Ruebel Funeral Home followed by a graveside service Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.
