EARNESTINE CAMP of Little Rock, Ark. was born July 26, 1920 in Sheridan, Ark., the daughter of the late Louise T. and Daisy Stringer Camp. Ms. Camp went to her heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 92. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Maurice Camp. Earnestine was a 1938 graduate of Sheridan High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from the University of Arkansas in 1942, and a master's degree in education in 1954. She taught for 11 years at Yellville and Bentonville Schools. She then joined the staff of the School Food Service section of the State Department of Education in Little Rock and worked there 25 years. This position gave her the opportunity to travel all over the state and to work with adults dedicated to providing nutritious food for the health and well being of the children of Arkansas. Even though she had no children of her own, she thought all children who attended public schools in the State of Arkansas were hers. Earnestine joined Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock in 1953 and was a very active member until October 2012. She was an Adult Sunday School teacher and was involved in many other church related activities. She was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors of Baptist Health Medical Center Auxiliary and also served as a compassionate volunteer for Baptist Hospice and Arkansas Children's Hospital and continued to volunteer with Child Nutrition up until her death. She was a member of Friendship International, an organization that helps people new to our country become familiar with our culture, enabling her to make friends from all over the world. Her momentos were placed in the Child Nutrition Archives at the National Foundation Service Management Institute containing materials from the late 1930's through 2000, including photograph, small artifacts, office files, and school service publications. Survivors: sister, Jean Pope of Little Rock; nephews, Robert Camp and wife Carol, Rev. Melvin Camp and wife Leanne all of Indiana, Thomas Pope and wife Margie of Virginia, Larry Pope and wife Jan of Texas; John Pope and wife Sandy of Forrest City, Ark.; Niece, Gerdena Stroud of Indiana, as well as her church family and friends.
