Enoch Maxwell "Mac" McCune

Enoch Maxwell (Mac) McCune, died Dec. 3, 2012 in Hot Springs Village. He was born Dec. 10, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Berte Carnahan and Kenneth Edwin McCune, who preceded him in death. He was married to Carole Summers Blondeau in 1982. Mac grew up in Joplin, Mo. and graduated from Joplin High School where he served three years as concertmaster of the symphony orchestra. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Arkansas, was concertmaster of the University-Fayetteville Orchestra for three years and was a member of the Marching Razorbacks band, as well as Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He graduated with high honors in music education from the University of Illinois and received a master's degree in administration from Milliken University. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army (retired). He taught in Decatur, Ill. and Marengo, Ill. schools, and continued his career in music at Huntington, Long Island, where he taught elementary and high school strings, conducted the Elementary All-District Orchestra and performed with the Huntington Chamber Players. Mac loved golf and was a huge football and basketball fan. Music was his passion and he was an accomplished violinist. Mac always had a joke or a story ready to entertain family and friends. He was an amateur ornithologist and loved feeding his birds. Survivors are his wife, Carole; a brother, Wendell (Dayle) of North Little Rock; son, John (Molly) of Yardley, Pa.; daughters, Melissa, Queens, N.Y., Kathy Keegan, of Somerville, Mass. and Karen (Matt), Candlewood Isle, Conn.; stepdaughters, Janet Blondeau, Oakland, Calif., Sharon Blondeau, Alexandria, Va., Annette Radvansky (Mike), The Woodlands, Texas and Claire Blondeau (Chris), Germantown, Tenn.; three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Nature Conservatory of Arkansas, 601 North University Avenue, Little Rock, Ark. 72205 or the charity of your choice.
