Karen Laster Whitaker

Karen Jean Laster Whitaker of Sheridan, Ark. was born Feb. 18, 1959 at Little Rock, the daughter of Imogene Bunch Laster and the late Carl Lester Laster. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in the Landmark Community, and was employed by Arkansas Development Finance Authority. She enjoyed cooking for, and making memories with, her family. Karen died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, at the age of 53. Survivors: husband, Phillip Whitaker of Sheridan; son, Jason Laster of Sheridan; mother, Imogene Bunch Laster of Little Rock; brothers, Carlton Laster of Little Rock, Keith Laster of Sheridan; sister-in-law, Connie Laster of Little Rock; step-mother, Jean Laster of Cabot; step-brothers, Dan West of Cabot, Dwight West of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Gary West of Corinth, Miss.; step-sister, Kathy Hill of Jackson, Miss.; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in the Landmark Community with Bro. David Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Brad Whitaker, Jamie Mooney, Kenny Bunch, Eddie Bunch, Murray Harding, Bev Lambert.
